"A brief introduction of Nepal Youth Red Cross Circle, Shanker Dev Campus:

           Devoted only for the well being of human being "Nepal Youth Red Cross Circle, Shanker Dev campus" was established in 2052 B.S. by taking into consideration the seven principles of the Red Cross. In the beginning year it was very difficult to conduct programme due to different problems and lack of information. Still this circle was going forward in its journey by conducting different activities for the well – being of human.
Nine ten years later in the year 2061 B.S. in the co-ordination of the youth who wanted social well being this circle was renewed with the objective to advertise the Red Cross widely and to reduce the pain and suffering of people later on in the shore period this circle has been helping the poor grief people and people fallen in trouble to the extent of its sources and resources and had advertised the Red Cross

Procedures for joining Red Cross

Student who is willing to join Nepal Youth Red Cross Society, Shanker Dev Campus has to meet the members of Nepal Red Cross Circle, Shanker Dev Campus with their photo and required charges. For detail information they can consult the members of the Youth Red Cross Circle.

The programme conducted by this circle can be briefly presented as below:

  1. Website Lunched in SDC, Youth Red Cross Circle

Shankar Dev College, Red Cross Circle has launched it website. The website will contain all information about the circle and their activities. The website will also have many different features which are going to be implemented for the first time in any of Red Cross site. The site will also contain blood donor list from different part of the countries which is supposed to greatly help the general people who need blood especially during emergencies.

2.   Sanitation in Shanker Dev Campus Area
On the occasion of the National Sanitation Week (Baisakh 24-30) Shanker Dev Campus organized sanitation week programme with the slogan "Keep the Campus Area Clean" In this programme the dirt in the campus area and the poster and pamphlet which were forted on the wall were removed and doctored the campus area as a dirty free zone also the dustbin were kept in different places of the campus area. On the programme 7 sweepers, which were doing their duty from a long period, were facilitated.

3. World AIDS Day 2006 “Fundraising through awareness program”
December1, 2006

“Come Closer, Touch Me, Shake Hands, Play With Me, Kiss Me, ………….HIV does not transfer through these activities.” With this slogan in posters, pamphlets, banners and stickers, more than a thousand Youth Red Cross volunteers involved in the campaign against stigma and discrimination around HIV/AIDS on the World AIDS Day programme.
The Nepal Youth Red Cross, Shanker Dev Campus marched through door to door and public vehicles in Bagbazar and Putalisadak area more than hundred volunteers, exchanging posters and stickers containing HIV AIDS information among people. The activities had dual objectives: to collect funds from voluntary donors for the treatment of the people infected and affected by HIV/AIDS.
Nepal Youth Red Cross, Shanker Dev Campus extends hearty thanks to all the donors and volunteers to support the awareness and fund raising Campaigns for the treatment of the people infected and affected by HIV/AIDS

4. Intra-College Quiz Competition: -

On the occasion of 43 Anniversary of Red Cross, Nepal Youth Red Cross Circle, Shanker Dev Campus had organized intra-college quiz competition program. In this program Mr. Krishna Aryal & Ganesh Poudel bagged the 1st prize. Mr. Baburam Bhuashal & Nishal Bashyal secured the 2nd and Mr. Santosh Chaulagain & Dogendra Shrestha 3rd prize. Chief Guest Sangha Ratna Shakya, Secretary, Nepal Red Cross Society, Kathmandu District Chapter, Guest Free Student Union President Jaya Krishna Maharjan, had distributed trophy & certificates.

5. Blood Donation Program:-

Nepal Youth Red Cross Circle, Shankar Dev Campus had carried out blood donation program on 26 Mangsir, 2062 and minimized the problem of blood scarcity in the valley. One hundred & twenty four people donated blood on this occasion

6. Distribution of "Yuwa Red Cross Garima": -
Campus Chief, Amuda Shrestha, Shanker Dev Campus, released "Yuwa Red Cross Garima", the1st Annual Magazine published by Nepal Youth Red Cross Circle, Shanker Dev Campus which was later distributed among students as a souvenir from Nepal Youth Red Cross Circle, Shanker Dev Campus.

7. Inter-College Oratory Speech Competition: -

On the occasion of 42nd Anniversary of Red Cross, Nepal Youth Red Cross Circle, Shankar Dev Campus had organized inter-college oratory speech program on the topic "Role of Youths in the Red Cross". Sarita Budhathoki of Birendra Sainik Residential College bagged the 1st prize. Abhima Uprety of Nobel College, Baneswor & Min Bdr. Gurung of Birendra Sainik Residential College secured the 2nd & 3rd prize. Chief Guest Amuda Shrestha, Campus Chief, Shanker Dev Campus had distributed trophy, cash prize & certificates.

 

8 . No Smoking Day observed: -
Nepal Youth Red Cross Circle, Shankar Dev Campus organized the symposium to mark the No Smoking Day on 17th of Jestha, 2062 and decided to declare the "Smoke Free Zone" installing awareness board against smoking.

9.       Lighting the lamps program celebrated: -
Shankar Dev Campus organized the lighting the oil-fed lamps on the occasion of Buddha Jayanti on 9th of Jestha, lighting 1008 lamps at Maitighar Mandala.

10.       Participation in oratory speech program: -
On 4th Baisakh Shankar Dev Campus participated in oratory speech program organized by Tri-chandra Campus on the topic "Role of Red Cross in 21st century". Shankar Dev Campus bagged 4th place.
11.       Red Cross Celebrated:-       
In alliance with Nepal Youth Red Cross Circle, Tri-Chandra Campus, Nepal Youth Red Cross Circle, Nobel College Nepal Youth Red Cross Circle took out peace rally to celebrate Red Cross Day on 8th May 2006.

Red Cross sign misuse free day: -
Following the directive of N.R.C.S. office Nepal Youth Red Cross Circle, Shankar Dev Campus, in coordination with K.R.C. district committee, launch success valley wide camping to deusing unauthorized use of Red Cross sign in the district, informing to use their professional sign.

14.     Blood donation Program: -

Nepal Youth Red Cross Circle, Shankar Dev Campus had carried out blood donation program on the occasion of Democracy day on 16 Falgun 2061 and minimized the problem of blood scarcity in the valley. One hundred & eighteen people donated blood on this occasion.

15.       Donation for Tsunami victims: -
N.R.C.S. Kathmandu branch had conducted fund collection rally on Poush 25, 2061 to help Tsunami victims.

16. Help to the helpless and orphan child:-

With the help of the Nepal Youth Red Cross Circle, Nobel college this circle collected and distributed the winter clothes, copy and pencil to the 23 orphan child of Kapan in the presidency of the principal of child and women welfare organization Rajendra Dulal on Poush 19, 2061 B.S.


Red Cross is a humanitarian organization therefore we, the Red Cross activists must work considering the norms and values, the 7 rules of Red Cross. That's why this NYRC circle has planned various forthcoming programs.

  1. Proposed Programs: The following programs have been proposed.
  1. Extension of the organization and publicize it widely,
  2. Implement cleaning and sanitation works effectively,
  3. Arrangement of the card phone service at the campus,
  4. Encourage the students to participate in the extra curricular  activities for their personality development,
  5. Conduct personality development programs ,
  6. Conduct leadership programs,
  7. Publicize Red Cross principle,
  8. Acknowledge international humanitarian laws to students,
  9. Launch awareness programs about HIV/AIDS,
  10. Develop friendship & alliance with different circles in national & international levels,
  11. Computerize the library in systematic ways,

At last but not the least, we would like to thank all the Students, Teachers, Circle members and Campus administration for their cooperation in our efforts. Likewise, we also thank Nepal Red Cross Society Central office, District Chapter of Kathmandu, Blood Bank Nepal, Youth Circles and anticipate your cooperation in the future to encourage our mission.
